I am trying to sign up on Golf Genius and there are no listed tee times, and you also can’t say the day you’re playing? I don’t get it.

When you sign up, the ONLY thing you are saying is please enter me into the tournament. Your name on the form says I registered for that event and nothing else.

Ok, I get it! So how do I get a tee time?

You really should get a tee time first. You can go to the Oak Hills website and book a tee time. Once you book the time, you know the day and the time you are playing. So now, sign up for the tournament. Remember, when you sign up, you only declare I want to compete in that specific event.

So, if I need to play with a member, how do I ensure my tee time is with another OHMGA person?

A few options:

Some guys book more than one tee time in advance.  As an example, you book a twosome, threesome or foursome on Saturday at 8:40 am. Then, they’ll send a message to the membership and say I got a or some open spot(s), does anyone want to play? Someone will absolutely respond to you and then you’re good to go. Members are always looking for opportunities to play, we get many messages from guys looking for a game.

You can also call the pro shop, tell them the day you want to play and if not too busy, they can see if a member has any open spots to add you.

Those are the two best ways to ensure you are playing with another member.

Ok, but I’m late getting a tee time for this week. Is there any way to connect with members who might be playing?

Yes, you can use our group email, Gaggle. From any email tool (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.), if you send a message to ohmga@gaggle.email, and say you are looking for a game, it is very likely that someone will contact you. Plans change often, so it’s a great chance someone will contact you because they need someone.

If I book a few slots and want a member to play with me, can I send an email using gaggle to see if anyone wants to play?

Yes! In fact, we encourage you to do so, and it is a very efficient and fast way to get members to play with each other.

Ok, I am getting this, I have gotten my tee time and tried to register but the email link says the round is not open? How can I sign up?

You can go directly to the phone app, Select Member Portal, then select Tournament and then select Open Sign Up. On the website, you just go to Tournament, then Open Sign up.

Other than the email link, this is the fastest way for tournament sign up every time. The email is super helpful and will typically work. But you can sign up easily using the app or the Website and some of you don’t have to search for an email as you rush to the tee box trying to sign up last minute, lol. 😉

You tell me I need to let you know the day I am playing. Where do we do that?

Yes, we need to know in advance, because we have one of the most flexible schedules in the country. On the Phone app, go to Member Portal, then Tournament, then League Talk.  You can easily input the day you think you will play, and you are good to go. On the website, just click Tournament, then League Talk. It is simple, easy and takes less than 1 minute.

If you are keeping your own score just input your name or input the name of your group, if you are scoring as a group.

Do I need my password and id to use the app or the website?

Yes, we don’t use GGID to register for an event. If you use your phone once, your password and id have already been saved and directly opens the phone app. If you’re a brand-new member, the password and ID you used for league registration are the same credentials you use for the app or the website.

If you don’t know your password or id, we need to send you a password reset link. Just let us know at 203.822.1720 or email us at oakhillsmens@gmail.com and we’ll get it to you.

Ok, a few more things. When I sign up for a tournament, I see a whole bunch of names, where should I put my name?

A few things:

If you are playing with other members, but want to keep your own score, then you need to put yourself on a separate line with no one else!!  Find the first empty spot and add your name.

If you are playing with a group and one person is keeping score for the team, then you can add the names of everyone on the same line. This means when you open Golf Genius scoring, you’ll see the names of everyone in your playing group that’s in the event.

Why can’t I just put my name in the first empty spot on the sign-up sheet, next to the first member?

Please do not do this. Odds are you are not playing with this person. Odds are also high that the person wants to keep his own score. He will see your name show up on his Golf Genius scorecard and it is difficult to navigate. So again, unless you’re playing with the person who is on that line AND you all decide to keep score for each other, then please input your name on the first empty space on the sign-up sheet. Again, registration sign up only says, you want to play in the event, nothing else.

If I register for a tournament, is it mandatory that I play it?

No, it is not mandatory, things happen. If you can’t play it, then there is no problem, no penalty, no issues. The benefit of signing up early is you know you’re all set, especially since many of us are rushing to the first tee.

Are there more detailed instructions on sign up, gaggle email, or other procedures?

Yes, on the website, under Get Help, everything explains anything you want to do in easy terms. You can also get to the same spot on the phone app, clicking Member Portal, then Get Help.
